Current Economic Factors and their Relationship to Oil & Gas Industry
Speaker Bio:
Tim, an economist with a B.S. in Agriculture and Applied Economics from Texas Tech University, began his career at Dean Witter Reynolds, Inc. as a securities and commodities representative. He later became Syndicate Coordinator, working on mergers, acquisitions, and risk management for the agricultural sector in the Southwestern US.
In 2000, Tim became the Director of Marketing for the National Grain Sorghum Producers (NGSP), where he developed domestic and international markets for grain sorghum. He initiated renewable energy projects for grain sorghum, and in 2003, founded Sorghum Synergies, LLC, focusing on ethanol production. Tim played a key role in introducing ethanol to Texas and the Southwest US, achieving significant demand growth and legislative funding for ethanol development.
In 2005, Tim established Agri-Energy Solutions, Inc. (AES), later known as Matador Economics, to develop ethanol biorefineries. AES provided comprehensive services including budget planning, construction, and market development for ethanol and biodiesel. During the 2007-2008 financial crisis, Tim ensured ethanol and biodiesel supply met federal requirements, expanding Matador Economics' operations into oil, gas, and refined products. Post-2010, Matador Economics continued to grow, offering daily commentary programs for clients in the energy sector.
